This spring the Fleishhacker Foundation has announced twelve new fellowships for visual artists, and I am a recipient for 2015! This outstanding award goes to artists who have been nominated by Bay Area non-profit organizations, and whose portfolios are competitively judged by a panel of arts experts from outside of Northern California.
The Fleishhacker Foundation has provided support to area arts organizations since its founding in 1947. The Eureka program is unique in that it provides direct, unrestricted support to artists to make their work. Three years of fellowships are given out at a time, and this cycle includes Guillermo Gomez-Peña, Surabhi Saraf, and Chris Fraser–more information on the current recipients here.
